A delightful pair of green glazed Chinese Export earthenware parrots standing on bits of rockery glazed in pale ochre with accents. Each is individually modeled with slight differences in details, proportions and colors. Lots of personality. Each with stylized yet convincing incised patterns representing feathers and wings. Ca. late 19th century. No maker’s marks, as is typical. Holes at the back of the necks are intentional firing vents. Good antique condition with some wear, mainly to the edges of the base. Typical artisanal irregularities throughout, as made.
